The Newbury and District Dog Training Society started in 1962 as a non-profit making organisation. It is Kennel Club registered and insured. As an established and experienced club, it is dedicated to the traditional approach to dog training, using encouragement and rewards.

In addition to running regular training classes, the society organises the Newbury and District Open Obedience Show. The society is also involved in a number of dog welfare issues and has a wealth of experience with re-homed or rescue dogs.

The main instructors are Joan and Roy Hammersley. Joan and Roy have many years experience of training dogs and both have competed up to class c in Obedience shows. Roy is one of the leading judges in England from beginners to Class C.
